Customers

Add and manage customers, keep their contacts and projects, and give them portal access — from the list to the customer detail view.

A customer is the company or person your projects are for. Storing them here lets you attach projects to them, keep their contacts, and give them a single place to follow along. The page has a customer list down one side and the selected customer's detail on the other.

The customer list

The left pane lists everyone in the workspace you currently have selected. Pick a customer to open their detail view, or start a new one. On a phone the list and the detail take turns full-screen.

Adding a customer

Click to create a new customer.

Enter the name and primary email — both required.

Optionally add a website and a note.

Optionally set the language used for this customer's emails and public pages. Leave it on default to follow the workspace language.

Click Create customer.

The customer detail view

Opening a customer shows their profile and everything tied to them.

Master data

The core fields — name, email, website, note, and language. Edit and click Save changes.

Contacts

The people at this customer who should hear from you.

  • Notify primary contact — whether the customer's main email receives update mails.
  • Add contact — extra people with a name, email, optional role (e.g. Billing), and note. Each contact has its own toggle for whether they receive updates, so you can keep some in the loop and others on file only.

Projects

Every project assigned to this customer, with a shortcut to create another.

Customer portal

One overview page that lists all of this customer's projects behind a single link — instead of sending many.

  • Enable portal — turn the shared page on.
  • Protect with a password — require a password to open it. When protected, the portal also lists password-protected individual projects; when not, those stay hidden.
  • Portal link — the shareable address, ready to copy.

Customer access

Lets the customer log in to their portal with their own account, rather than just opening a link.

  • Invite someone by email. Pending invitations can be resent or withdrawn.
  • Active accounts — everyone who has logged in; you can revoke any one's access (their account stays, it just loses this portal).
  • Domain join — list email domains (e.g. company.com) so anyone with a matching address can create their own access without an individual invite.
Info

Free email providers and disposable-mail domains can't be used for domain join.

Activity

A running log of this customer's updates across their projects.

Deleting a customer

The danger zone at the bottom permanently deletes the customer and removes the links to their projects. This can't be undone.
